Propeller polishing is the in-water cleaning and smoothing of a vessel’s propeller to remove fouling and surface roughness. A rough propeller creates drag and disturbs water flow, which wastes fuel and reduces thrust. When fouling and roughness build up on the blades, the propeller has to turn harder to deliver the same thrust. That shows up directly as higher fuel use and lost speed. A smooth, polished propeller cuts that loss. The blades move cleanly through the water, thrust comes back, and the engine stops compensating for a surface it should not have to fight.
